Two Bradford postmen have put down their mail bags and picked up their cameras to help raise money for children's hospices.

Charlie Wilson and Tony Pickering, employees with Royal Mail, have had their photographs included in a book that will be sold to raise money for the charity Help the Hospices.

The book, called 'Unseen UK', is a collection of 240 pictures from across the United Kingdom taken by Britain's postal staff.

Charlie Wilson, 55, who works at the Forster Court offices of Royal Mail in Bradford has had three of his pictures included in the book.

Mr Wilson of Baildon said: "The pictures are of The Needles on the Isle of Wight, a castle near the Isle of Skye and a sunset at Ilkley Moor.

"I took them while I was around and about on my travels. I mainly photograph landscapes and nature."

Mr Wilson, who is a keen amateur photographer, said he had never had any work published before.

A total of 1,300 Royal Mail staff submitted more than 20,000 pictures.

"I entered because I thought it was a good cause," said Mr Wilson, a dedicated Bradford City fan.

"The fact that my pictures will help raise money for the charity is great."

The father of two said now his work had been published he was keen to develop his skills.

"I am looking to do a course in photography but it will have to fit in around my work," said Mr Wilson who has worked at Royal Mail for 32 years.

Mr Pickering, who works at the Ilkley office of Royal Mail, had a picture of the Sagu brothers included in the book.

The brothers are pictured outside their Bradford garage.

Employees were asked to come up with interesting and striking images of the UK taken from the perspective of a person on the street.

The book put together by photographer Stephen Gill and broadcaster Jon Ronson costs £20.

They are available on line from www.royalmail.com/shop or by calling the Royal Mail order line on 08457 640 640.
