Former Great Britain amateur international Lee Innes will be aiming to knock his own team-mates out of the Powergen Challenge Cup this weekend.

Innes, who has served with the Army for 17 years, will line up for them against West Bowling tomorrow in a second- round tie at Aldershot.

As a corporal in the Royal Engineers, the Army have first call on Innes' services as they bid to reach the lucrative third round.

"I just could not believe the draw," he said. "But I knew whose shirt I would be putting on. I have played with the Army since 1999 but travel back from my base in Cheltenham to West Yorkshire every weekend to play with West Bowling in National Conference League Division One.

"Both are great sets of lads and the playing style of both teams is not dissimilar. Bowling were beaten by West Hull one week and the following weekend I was with the Army team who beat them in the cup.

"It is really going to be difficult playing against your team-mates but that will be my job tomorrow.

"I will just have to make sure I stay away from Phil Chappell. I've seen what he does for the Bowling week in, week out and he's not catching me if I can help it!"

Wests are acutely aware of Innes' try-scoring feats, and also his kicking prowess as he kicked the winning touchline conversion to win last week's game at Thatto Heath.

However, Innes has given West Bowling some inside information - that the Army will field a number of South Sea Islanders. Army centre Narka Mavuto was devastating against West Hull, scoring three tries and having a hand in several others while Fili Seru and prop Peter Cowburn are two other key players for the soldiers. Meanwhile, Bowling will be without influential loose forward Ricky Helliwell, who has a broken thumb.

Nevertheless, Bowling have plenty of talent in their ranks, with player-coach Peter Simpson and Chappell two of their leading players.

Bradford Dudley Hill are at Warrington Wizards, and this all-LHF National League Three clash between the champions of the past two seasons is set to be a cracker.

The tie is at Wilderspool, and the Wizards, League Three champions in 2004, start as favourites. Coached by former star players Eddie Harris and Clint Rylance, the Wizards team is packed full of young talent, the latest of which is outstanding teenage hooker Steven Smythe.

The Wizards beat Clayton 32-24 in the first round, while current League Three champions Dudley Hill defeated Gates-head Storm 42-12 last time out.

Full back Craig Tyman, veteran Richard Bingley and winger Jamie Brentley are key figures for Hill, but they face a major challenge from a Wizards team that includes three Serbian internationals.
