Carnage is promised in Keighley tonight as Random Hand play a rare home-town gig.

Concert organiser Jym said carnage was the only word to describe the show at CJ's Bar.

The quartet plays musical styles including skraggae, metallic and punkhop. Admission is £4.

Also playing the venue, next to Keighley Railway Station, tonight, from 7.30pm, is young Keighley ska band Aspirin.

Jym said: "Only ten gigs and Aspirin are proving a formidable outfit, on their way to becoming one of the best local live acts."

Also playing are Stockport skacore/emo/punk band Out Of Gauge, with strong songs and a good stage show, and Sonic Boom Six.

Jym said: "Sonic Boom Six have supported everyone from Capdown, King Prawn, Whitmore and Voodoo Glowskulls, and played Glastonbury last year."

Random Hand also plays Coventry, Manchester and Cambridge this month, then Bradford's 1 in 12 Club (March 4 & 17), Joseph's Well, Leeds (8), and CJ's (26).

n The Spectrum Blues Club is no longer Keighley's only blues venue, as singer-songwriter Sam Payne comes to the Cricketer's Arms on Tuesday.

The Coney Lane pub hosts a woman influenced by jazz, blues, folk, rock, hip-hop and samba, from 8.30pm.

Sam has played at Colne International Blues Festival and leading venues like Ronnie Scott's, Band on the Wall and Dingwalls.

She has also appeared on local, national and European radio stations and is working on an album with top producer Skip MacDonald.

Tonight sees a traditional Irish night with local artists, starting at 8pm.

n Steve White is returning to Keighley to host another drum clinic -- and this time he's bringing his friends.

The second half of the March 2 event will be a gig with Steve's fellow Paul Weller musicians Damon Minchella and Seamus Beagan.

Keighley music promoter Roger "Trotwood" Nowell is also arranging local gigs by Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilco Johnson and Ian Dury's old band The Blockheads.

Trotwood's band, Operatorsix, is arranging a small tour including local shows.

Book £7.50 tickets for Steve White at the Copy Shop, High Street, Keighley.

n Montauk Island tours again as the Keighley band arranges another coach to one of its gigs.

Fans can see the rockers' April 29 show at the Zanzibar Club, in Liverpool. Phone 07734 652805.

n Keighley band Unfinished Drawings performs with Every Second of Every Day and Boys with Beaks on March 3.
