THE fantastic run Otley Athletic Club's Ian Fisher produced in the Nairobi Marathon has paid off with a gold medal and a share of the £10,000 prize in the Nations Challenge for Oceania and Europe.

Ian, 35, ran the first leg of the Standard Chartered Bank's Greatest Race on Earth when he raced in Kenya. The Challenge is a four marathon relay and it ended in Hong Kong at the weekend. Different runners run the four races.

Last year Ian ran the Mumbai Marathon as part of the series. His time in Kenya in October was the fastest by a Team GB competitor in the series.

Ian is Yorkshire's leading long distance runner. He is the Yorkshire ten mile champion as well as being county champion at half-marathon and 20 miles.
