Played two, lost one, won one for Keighley & District Table Tennis League Division Two leaders Nemesis this week. First off the Wrose side visited Lothersdale 'B' who had Frazer Krischte in fine form with his full house doing for Dave Manogue 11-9, 7-11, 11-7, 11-5; Peter Worger 11-6, 11-8, 11-3 and Tom Sampson 6-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-5. Martin Connolly bagged another couple for Lothersdale against Sampson and Worger 9-11, 12-10, 11-4, 18-20, 11-8; Peter Midgley also got two against Manogue and Worger 11-7, 6-11, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6 and 11-13, 11-3, 11-7, 5-11, 11-5 respectively. Krischte and Connolly then teamed up to inflict more woe on the visitors in the doubles where they beat Sampson and Manogue 6-11, 11-8, 6-11, 15-13, 11-7 in another tight game to leave Nemesis on the wrong end of an 8-2 score line and wondering what might have been.

Later in the week, though, Nemesis took on Embassy 'D' at home with Les Packer coming in for Sampson. The personnel change gave Nemesis the lift they were looking for as they swept to a superb 9-1 victory against the Bingley team who only staved off a whitewashing with Allen Jeffrey's plucky 6-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-9, 12-10 defeat of Manogue. Packer was brilliant for the winners with his treble including the defeat of Tim Sharp 12-10, 11-5, 11-6 and Worger was equally devastating, his max seeing him get the better of Keith Brooke 11-4, 11-5, 11-7.

Lothersdale 'C' sneak almost unnoticed into second spot with a fine 8-2 win at home against Embassy 'C'. Richard Crookes contributed three to the cause, including the defeat of Tom Lacey 11-13, 11-7, 11-9, 6-11, 11-6. Andrew Lambe added another treble for the dales men, culminating with a fine 11-8, 11-7, 13-11 win against Nick Kaye. Les Wood and Kaye got the points for the Bingley team with wins against Martin Mulligan before the Lothersdale player teamed up with Lambe to win the doubles 11-7, 12-10, 11-6 against Wood and Kaye as the match finished on a triumphant note for Lothersdale.

In Division Three, Ilkley Road 'B' proved to be no match for their 'A' team in the derby clash at Riddlesden. The nearest they got to a win in the 10-0 defeat was Steve Ives' loss to Steve Barton 9-11, 4-11, 11-9, 14-12, 11-5 as the 'A' team power 11 points clear of the field at the top.

In Division Four, Crossflatts 'B' continue ahead of the pack as a result of another good home victory, this time against Denholme. Young star James Marshall lead the way with his treble including the defeat of dangerous Dave Ellis in an absolute thriller 18-16, 9-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-4. Ryan Foulds added another three during which he got the better of Adi Powis 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 and a couple from John Patrick against Ellis and 11-6, 12-10, 11-13, 8-11, 11-6 against Paul Whittaker completed an 8-2 victory for Crossflatts. For Denholme, Ellis defeated Patrick and then, together with Powis, just got the better of Foulds and Marshall in the doubles 10-12, 11-9, 11-7, 6-11, 11-9.

Elsewhere, Lothersdale Juniors took full advantage from playing at home against South Craven with a quality 7-3 win. Tom Morgan, Emma Lindle and John Lindle all scored a couple with Morgan's 11-9, 11-5, 11-3 defeat of Matthew Wiggan; Emma's 8-11, 12-10, 12-10, 11-7 win against Eddy Jagger being top class. For the visitor's Chris Farnworth was the best player with a couple, 13-15, 11-7, 11-9, 12-10 against Emma and 8-11, 12-10, 7-11, 11-5, 11-7 against John.

In Division Five Ilkley Fastbats 'B' surge into second spot, just one point behind leaders Oakbank, with a powerful display at home to St. Wilf's. Simon Collinson was the best player, notching a treble for Fastbats with a powerful display that included the defeat of Will Lister 11-5, 10-12, 11-9, 6-11, 11-4. Laurie Picken and Sarah Booth earned a couple each for Fastbats with wins against both Pam Gabe and David Anderson. Lister got rare compensation for St. Wilf's with defeats of both Picken and Booth as the Ilkley team finished deserving 8-2 winners.
