Steeton 3 South Bradford 1 - Steeton got back to winning ways with a hard earned victory against mid-table opposition, which would have been much more comfortable had they put their chances away.

The homesters dominated from the first whistle and took the lead after five minutes, when Lee Barker threaded a pass to Ricardo Falconi who went into a challenge with the 'keeper just inside the box. The ball broke to Adam Smith who coolly lofted the ball over covering defenders into the empty net.

Swiftly after this, Lee Barker forced the best out of the South Bradford keeper, latching onto Stewart Airdrie's pass and firing his shot in. Steeton exerted pressure time and time again down the right through good interplay between the tireless Falconi, full back Danny Head and Daniel Gaudiosi, linking up with Airdrie.

They doubled their lead on 20 minutes, when Steve Barker's pass inside from the left found Airdrie 25 yards out, he carried the ball forward before striking a low shot into the corner to the keepers' right.

Steeton continued to dominate play until five minutes before half time, when a free kick on the right was lofted into the Steeton box over the home back line and the South Bradford striker scored with a free header.

After the break Steeton were pinned back by the opposition, who were clearly lifted by their goal just before half-time. But after a few shaky moments the Summerhill Lane outfit started to get a grip in midfield.

Lee Barker then found the net from Airdrie's astute pass from the right, only to see it chalked off for off-side.

Steeton also hit the woodwork before Steve Barker released substitute Mostyn Hockey, who in turn found, Falconi and Lee Barker. His pass found his brother Steve who finished the move with a well struck shot to cap a fine personal display, and seal the victory.

They are without a game this week but the club has been boosted by the news that Dale Hoyle has agreed to join them until the end of the season. Manger Paul Ettenfield couldn't hide his delight over the capture and is confident the signing could just be the difference they need this season.

Wibsey Res 1

Steeton Res 1

Steeton went to Wibsey with a 3-0 cup defeat still fresh in their minds from only two weeks ago. With a much improved performance and attitude from the Summerhill Lane side they were unlucky to come out of this match with only a point. Steeton started the game brightly and took the game to the Bradford out fit. With Jimmy Ansen pulling all the strings in midfield.

With veteran, Andy Lamb sat in front of the back four Steeton were rarely troubled except for one effort which Nathan Barratt got a hand to make a great save. At half time the teams went in level.

The second half saw Wibsey come out the strongest and they scored within three minutes of the restart.

Jimmy Ansen curled a free kick into the roof of the net for a well deserved equaliser.

Craig Stephens and Gareth Atkinson were both superb at the back for Steeton .

This week they face Oxenhope in the Supplementary Cup at Summerhill Lane (kick off 2pm).
