The Bulls have been warned to beware a Harlequins backlash on Saturday night.

While the Super League champions opened with a steady success at Wakefield, the side formerly known as London Broncos suffered a 40-16 mauling at home to St Helens.

For a club looking to impress in its new guise, the emphatic hiding wasn't the way to start out.

They head north to Odsal this weekend and Bulls ace Brad Meyers is expecting fireworks.

"Harlequins are going to attack us pretty hard," admitted the Aussie. "They'll be looking to pull up a good game and will come out with a real point to prove.

"Everyone has to be watched in this Harlequins team. They all want to make amends for last week

"We need to be on the ball or otherwise we'll get beat."

The name-change and partnership with Harlequins RU has given rugby league in the capital a fresh impetus and everyone at the club is desperate to ensure the game finally thrives down there.

With an influx of notable signings, they were caught off the pace at The Stoop but still showed glimpses of their potential and welcome back influential Australian Mark McLinden this Saturday.

The Bulls were solid if unspectacular against Wakefield and Meyers concedes they have to lift their game this week.

"We did all right but there's a few important things we took out of the Wakey game which we'll be looking to fix this Saturday," said the second-rower, who looks ready to build on his impressive debut season at Odsal.

After a fallow period, the player who shot to fame by earning Queensland and Kangaroo

honours in 2001, needed to rebuild his reputation as a genuine world-class talent.

Following Grand Final and World Club Challenge successes in England, he is doing just that.

The 26-year-old has looked really threatening with his wide-running during pre-season,

blasting into holes and delivering his usual tough defence.

It seems Meyers is ready to return to that blistering form that marked him out as a teenager.

"I'm just looking forward to playing some footie," he said.

"I've been working on the small things in my game and stuff I needed to pick up on.

"It went all right at Wakey but we've got to build on that."
