The Bulls plan to sign a key player in their bid to become three-times World Club Challenge champions - the support of the city.

Chairman Chris Caisley is concerned bad publicity is blighting interest in the Wests Tigers clash next Friday.

So far, only 12,000 tickets have been sold and after seeing just over 3,000 supporters turn up for Sunday's friendly at Huddersfield, he is fearing the worst.

"I think there's been some apathy towards the game," Caisley admitted.

"There's been rumours Wests aren't taking it seriously but we've seen the squad they're sending and all the big names are in if they aren't injured.

"As for Sunday, I know it was only a friendly but there was a time when we'd have taken six thousand fans along ourselves.

"I just hope the city now gets behind the club the next time we're back at the Galpharm for what, if we do win, would be an unprecedented third World Club Challenge title."

Leeds Rhinos attracted more than 30,000 to last year's Elland Road showpiece. The Galpharm holds 24,500 and Caisley believes the Bulls should be selling it out.

"There's a lot to be cheerful about," he continued.

"There's been unfortunate publicity about us buying older players and has-beens but I actually think we've got a stronger squad than last year and a better balance.

"It's also very important that we get this season off to a cracking start.

"We've gone away from Super League having its big, blockbusting openers - the World Club Challenge is now the chance for Bradford to make its mark and get underway.

"I just hope the city makes the most of this occasion too."
