Improving the working environment and giving staff health supplements could drastically reduce Bradford absenteeism after Christmas, according to an executive business coach.
Margaret McAngus, who runs the Yorkshire-based Academy of Achievement, said employers could help reduce the rise in January sick notes.
She said companies should ensure offices had enough light, fresh air and water. This would help improve productivity and lift depression.
And she said staff should be encouraged to go outdoors for fresh air during their breaks.
"The most effective way of ensuring your staff and yourself remain healthy and active over the festive period and start the new year on a high as opposed to a low is probably the simplest," said Mrs McAngus.
"The key is to improve the working environment and provide health supplements for all employees.
"This initial outlay will pay back dividends as you'll have a healthier, more productive workforce."
