City's wretched home form is baffling Colin Todd.

Saturday's 2-1 loss to Rotherham was their fifth at Valley Parade in 11 league games this season -

compared with only two away.

The lowly visitors, without a

manager after sacking Mick Harford last week, had not won a match for THREE months.

Todd was left scratching his head after another demoralising defeat leaves City stuck in mid-table for Christmas.

"I look for reasons why we aren't consistent at home and it mystifies me," admitted the City boss. "The same players have lost only two games away and picked up a lot more points yet we just can't get going in the right way at home.

"It's something we have to put right otherwise our away form, which is probably among the best in the division, will suffer and not mean anything.

"There are no excuses, we have to roll up our sleeves and show we can turn it round.

"Rotherham turned it round after 17 games without a win and we're not in half as bad a position as them. I'm bitterly disappointed we haven't won again but the game was lost in the first half.

"We expected a tough game and the players didn't go out with any lack of commitment. But you have to show a real desire to work the opposition and it was evident we didn't see that.

"We made it far too easy for them, and although there was an improvement in the second half, we have to show more purpose."

City were booed off at half-time and again after the final whistle. The home fans also vented their fury at the manager when Andy Cooke was taken off with ten minutes left.

Todd added: "That's something you come to accept and it's not the first time. It's a squad game and you have to make changes, it's no reflection on Andy Cooke. Sometimes the changes come off, sometimes they don't.

"I just felt I needed to put on Steve Claridge and keep Danny Cadamarteri on to stretch them with his pace. If Claridge had scored late when Cadamarteri put a cross in then it would have proved the point."
