Bolton Villas have drawn the short straw in the Aire-Wharfe League's Waddilove Cup for 2006.

They have been drawn at home to holders Bilton, who have won the league for the past three seasons, in the preliminary round on Sunday, April 23.

North Leeds, losing finalists in the cup, are also involved in one of the four preliminary round ties. They are at home to Horsforth Hall Park.

In the Birtwhistle Cup for second teams, holders Harden are at Rawdon in the first round on Sunday, May 7.

In the Ian Chappell Cup for third teams, Guiseley start the defence of their trophy in the first round at Kirkstall Educat-ional on Sunday, June 11.

Meanwhile, matches in the Aire-Wharfe League will start half an hour earlier for the majority of next season after a rule change was voted in at their annual meeting at Otley Rugby Union Club.

Menston's proposal that all matches will start at 1.30pm, seconded by Guiseley, was

carried 24-9.

In 2005, matches generally began at 2pm, except for the first four Saturdays and last four Saturdays of the campaign when the start time was 1pm, and that earlier start time will continue at the beginning and end of the 2006 season.

The vote on Rawdon's proposal, seconded by Beckwith-shaw, that matches should start at 1.30pm, except 1pm for the last four Saturdays of the season, was 21-12 in favour but that did not quite constitute the necessary two-thirds majority.

A blanket start time of 1pm, proposed by North Leeds and seconded by Beckwithshaw, was lost 23-10.

And that start time, plus a time limit of 3hr 15min for the 50 overs, with a penalty of six runs for each unbowled over beyond that time being deducted from the bowling side's total, only attracted two votes in favour.

They were from the proposer Guiseley and seconder Follifoot, with 31 against.

However, Guiseley's proposal that all clubs must have some form of pitch covering for use in matches, seconded by Collingham and Linton, was carried 25-7.

Guiseley were also successful in proposing a change to the rules governing weather-hit Waddilove, Birtwhistle and Chappell Cup ties.

The rule in existence in 2005 read: "When the side batting second has completed its allocation of overs (not to be fewer than five), the winner shall be the side which has scored the most runs (and, if necessary, has lost the fewer wickets) at that same stage of the innings as the side batting first."

This will be replaced by: "The run rate of the first innings shall be calculated over the total number of overs batted (with part overs deemed to be completed overs) and the target for the reduced second innings set accordingly by multiplying that run rate by the number of overs left in the second innings and adding one run."

The rule, seconded by Knares-borough, was carried 25-7.
