Building work has started on a new £10 million residential development in Crossflatts.
The King Cole Mills development is on the site of the original Merrie and King Cole Mills, both of which have been demolished, and Limefield Mills, which is being retained and converted as part of the ambitious project which will create 120 apartments.
The three new blocks are set to be called Merrie Mill, Fiddlers Mill and Old Souls Mill in deference to the famous nursery rhyme and the original buildings.
According to John Mulleady of developers JM Construction (Leeds) Ltd, the range of styles and prices, from £78,000 up to £200,000, will appeal to first time buyers, professional couples, retired people and prove an equally sound purchase for property investors.
He said: "We're creating a prestigious development aimed at a wide target market that will enjoy and benefit from property ownership in this beautiful part of the world, with easy access to the commercial centres of Leeds and Bradford along with the Yorkshire Dales and beyond."
The first phase of the development is due for release next summer and completed in July 2007.
