Bradford Park Avenue take on the UniBond League Premier Division's "good boys" Ashton United tomorrow - desperate for a win to keep them near the top of the table.

Despite having not won a league game in four outings, Avenue are still sixth although they have played more games than those around them.

Tomorrow they take on lowly Ashton United and Paul Futcher's men are unlikely to kick Avenue off the pitch - they have just been presented with the Fair Play Award for October. The team had just one yellow card in six league games.

The two teams drew at Horsfall Stadium at the start of the season - just before Avenue embarked on a winning run which saw them race up the table.

Avenue's leaky defence will need to be on their guard against Ciaran Kilheeney, who has netted ten times in the league this season and who is one of the division's leading scorers.

Avenue's latest signing - and 39th player to be used in the first team this season - Curtis Bernard is eager to make his league debut after scoring in the UniBond Challenge Cup at Farsley on Tuesday evening.

Avenue director of football Alan Hirst said: "Damien Dunne is available again after his one-match ban. Steve Oleksewycz is back in training and can't be far off now and Liam Flynn is working his way back to fitness. Both should be available for selection in the next two to three weeks."

Ashton bodd Futcher, the former Manchester City star, said: "I only have a small squad of 13 or 14 players to pick from because of injuries but I'm hopeful I can put out a side that will get us three points.

"We haven't won in five and Avenue haven't won in four, but I am sure Gary Brook will be delighted with his team's position in the table."

Futcher, whose twin brother Ron played for Bradford City, added: "Ciaran Kilheeney will be playing. He has done exceptionally well since I brought him into the side from Radcliffe Borough a couple of months back. He has scored goals and he is bright."

The reserves are at home to Workington tomorrow (3pm kick-off).
