BINGO halls may not be the popular places they once were, but the possible loss of Yeadon's Royal Bingo to a wine bar will be mourned by many.

It is ironic that many bingo halls themselves had replaced cinemas and it is a sign of the changing times that whereas every town once had its bingo hall, there are now just a few and usually concentrated in bigger towns such as Leeds and Bradford. Regulars bingo players at Yeadon's will be forced to travel if they want to continue playing and will also have to find other social avenues.

However, not all will despair at the loss of the bingo. Blacked out windows and a less than appealing frontage have been a source of concern not just for residents, but for councillors. And although the town centre may not need any more pubs, a high quality wine bar with food may be more appealing.

Yeadon is aiming to smarten itself up and investment has to be a good thing. Applicants, the Barracuda Group, says it has identified Yeadon as a 'highly suitable area' and plans a smart bar with food and nice, comfortable leather sofas. Whether Yeadon itself is ready for such a bar remains to be seen.

After a number of miscarriages and the birth of a tiny premature baby Tracey Wordsworth had more to worry about than her weight.

Set against the constant fear that her daughter was not going to survive, the fact that she was five and a half stone overweight seemed insignificant. But now three and a half years later her life has undergone a dramatic turn-around. She is a super slim mum to a healthy daughter and life couldn't be better.

Now she is hoping her story will prove an inspiration to others who feel there is no hope in sight and she wants others to realise that even when life seems bleak happiness can be round the corner.

After the traumas she had been through Tracey could have been forgiven for indulging herself. But once her baby daughter was over the worst she took herself in hand, and is now unrecognisable as the woman she used to be. She is surely an inspiration to us all.
