David Wetherall reckons City have had their card marked for next month's FA Cup rematch with Barnsley.

Wetherall admitted the Bantams were given a rough ride in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Valley Parade - a clash marred by hotly-disputed red cards for Ben Muirhead and visiting midfielder Brian Howard.

And the skipper predicts an even tougher encounter when the sides meet again in a second-round cup tie at Oakwell on December 3.

"I was very impressed with them," said Wetherall, "and we're delighted to get a clean sheet because they carry a real threat.

"They really put us on the back foot in the first half and we had our hands full. But as a defender, it's a good sign that we came through that and there weren't that many shots raining in.

"People will say we were at home and they were down to ten men for much longer than us but I think that was a good point. It's no accident Barnsley are flying up the league.

"We know what to expect next time and if anything, it will probably be even more difficult at their place."

Howard was given a straight red by referee Andre Marriner for a foul on Lewis Emanuel which was late but hardly malicious. Muirhead, now banned for the West Yorkshire derby at Huddersfield, followed after receiving a second booking for a

tussle with Steve McPhail midway through the second half.

Incredibly, ten red cards have been dished out in 20 City games this

season.

Colin Todd said: "It was very petulant what Ben did but didn't deserve a sending-off and Andy Ritchie could say the same about their lad. But referees are only human beings and they have to make decisions.

"Barnsley surprised me on the day but I was frustrated with us attacking-wise. We never threatened as much as I would have liked at home.

"I felt Dean Windass should have scored in the first half and then his header was excellently saved at the end. But we didn't pass the ball with any purpose or have a lot of chances.

"Defensively we stayed strong and Donovan Ricketts made two very good saves."
