The trip to the City Ground today has evoked fond memories for Bantams manager Colin Todd.

City play Nottingham Forest this afternoon in one of League One's matches of the day - and for Todd, he remembers his playing days at Forest with affection.

He played for them between 1982 and 1984 after his old Derby mentor Brian Clough signed him.

"I was 33 when I went to Nottingham Forest and for Brian to come in for me was the icing on the cake," said Todd.

"It prolonged my career at the top level for another two years.

"It was tremendous for me to go and play again for a manager I

really respected. I had had five good years with him at Derby."

Clough was a major influence on Todd from the days when he was a young player at Sunderland.

"He was the youth team coach when I was at Sunderland so he knew what I was made of. And once he got the job at Derby, he made a bid for me.

"At that time, it was the biggest fee going - £170,000. He didn't even ask the chairman at Derby!

"You looked forward to playing for the man. Player power wasn't there then.

"The man was a genius in what he did for football."

Under Clough, Todd established a reputation as being one of England's finest post-war defenders, winning 27 England caps between 1972 and 1977.

l Former City goalkeeper George Swindin has died aged 90.

Swindin, who played 297 times for Arsenal and went on to manage the Gunners, passed away in Kettering General Hospital.

He was 90 and suffered from Alzheimer's disease.

Swindin started his professional career in the football league at Bradford in 1934.

He joined Arsenal two years later and helped them win the First Division championship in 1948.
