The porcelain thrones in a Keighley pub are fit for a king and queen.

Staff at the Livery Rooms, in North Street, are flushed with pride after winning acclaim for the quality and standards of their toilets in the Loo of the Year 2005 awards.

The JD Wetherspoon pub, which opened last summer, was awarded a five-star rating by an independent team of judges who visit hundreds of loos unannounced across the UK to grade them from one star to the maximum five star award, with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.

The toilets, which have black marble sink finishings, varnished wooden cubicles and even an ante-room where women can chat with their friends, were judged against a number of criteria, including dcor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

Manager John Clayton, said: "I am delighted with the award.

"The staff work hard to ensure that the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it's great that their efforts have been rewarded."

The Loo of the Year Awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of UK toilets.
