A VINTAGE bus day celebrating 100 years of motorbus operation in Yorkshire was so successful it is to become an annual event.
Organised by the Aire Valley Transport Group and West Yorkshire Transport Society, the event saw 14 buses running between Bolton Abbey, Kildwick, Eastby and Halton East throughout the day.
A special service running on the original 1905 Ezra Laycock route between Kildwick and the Laneshawbridge turning circle also proved very successful.
There was also a large display of vintage buses and wagons at Bolton Abbey Railway Station with one visitor travelling from Gravesend in Kent for the day.
Because of the success of the bus running day, the event is going to be repeated next year, but with different historical routes being travelled, probably from Bolton Abbey further up the dale to Grassington and Gargrave.
David Hudson said the organisers had been very pleased with the way things had gone.
"Because it was the first time we'd done the bus running day, we didn't know how it would turn out, but it was very successful, we were happy with the number of visitors we got.
"We also had a lot more vehicles and visitors to the display at Bolton Abbey so everything went very well," he added.
