Buy one -- get one free! That's the offer from the reformed Montauk Island as they play host to Bon-Rourkie at all performances

The other band, formed by Montauk's bass player Simon Rourke, has faced the same problem finding gigs.

Montauk drummer Stuart Currie expressed his disappointment with local venues that would not book entertain bands playing original music.

He said: "Keighley has a lot of talented bands, but only CJ's Bar is letting bands play.

"Surely it's time for local pubs and clubs to book local bands -- I'm sure bands in return would support local venues."

Montauk follows up a string of local gigs with the Love Keighley Hate Racism concert at Victoria Hall on October 29.

The band will be joined by Soul Transplant, Angel Chain Diaries, singer Arkaye and Goth-rock headliners Skeletal Family.

During the Keighley Town Council-organised concert Montauk will no doubt play songs from their new nine-track CD City Glow.

Stuart said: "We are still writing new songs and are coming up with some real belters."

Montauk Island are back after several years absence, with original members Richard Byrnes and Steve Rhodes joined by Stuart, Simon and Chris Jackson.Tickets for October 29 at Keighley Musicians' Centre in the railway station, Keighley Town Hall, or phone 01535 618252.
