Crowds will be out and about at events and attractions across the district for the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Organisers of Haworth Carnival are expecting their biggest crowds at what is expected to be one of the highlights.

Thousands of people are expected to attend the event which is anticipated to feature more stalls than ever before.

The two-day event, organised by Haworth Cricket Club on its playing fields, takes place on Sunday and Monday and will feature majorette performances, a fun fair and a procession through the town.

And alongside its usual exhibitions and displays, Bradford Industrial Museum will be holding a 1940s-style extravaganza to celebrate the 60 year anniversary of VJ Day and the end of World War II. The event takes place on Monday.

Flower lovers will be able to admire a vast display depicting 24 countries around the world at Bingley Methodist Church's Flower Festival, which it hosts from Saturday until Monday. Refreshments will be served on the Saturday and the Monday from 11.30am onwards, with light lunch being provided on Sunday from noon.

Thomas the Tank Engine will be pulling into Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway Stations, with youngsters able to enjoy other favourites like Bertie bus and the Fire Engine.

The trains will be running every 30 minutes from 10am until 4pm.

Elsewhere, advice for those travelling over the weekend is being given out.

Thousands of Bank Holiday revellers are expected to take to the roads and the Highways Agency is advising motorists to expect some delays.

The Leeds Festival will restrict the flow of traffic along the A1 at Bramham throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, particularly on the Monday as people head home.

Drivers on the A1 near Wetherby can expect delays from ongoing road works.

Road users are also advised to make sure they remain safe on the roads by taking plenty of breaks and staying well hydrated in the hot weather.

Transport operator Metro is advising passengers that some services maybe altered over the weekend.

Bus operators will be running a Sunday service on Bank Holiday Monday, except for the 403 and 476 services which will run on a special timetable.
