HOLY FAMILY girls travelled to Cariff yesterday to compete in the final of the Powergen Schools Championship.
The team set off from Cougar Park at lunch time and were staying in Cardiff on Thursday and Friday nights thanks to an £800 grant from Keighley Town Council.
"It is tremendous to see the girls representing Keighley in the final of this competition, I know they will do the district proud," said ward councillor Mick Westerman.
They play their final at the National Athletic Stadium on Friday and will parade in front of sell-out 74,213 crowd at the Millennium Stadium during half time in the Challenge Cup between Leeds Rhinos and Hull.
The Keighley girls take on Airedale High School from Castleford in the Year-7, Under-12s, final.
"The Airedale team are very strong but out girls will be giving it everything they have got. It will be a brilliant weekend," said coach Jeremy Crowther.
