Emily Bront's Wuthering Heights is not best remembered for its blazing heat and cloudless skies.

But that is what faced pupils from Stanbury Primary School when they stepped out on to Haworth Moor to act out scenes from the novel.

The performance was part of a two-day workshop carried out by Bradford-based company No Offence Media Productions.

Duo Naila Ditta and Alex Fellows taught the children about the novel and helped them to carry out the acting scenes.

Naila said: "The children are taking part in the play itself. But we are doing it in a number of ways, including still scenes, the feelings of Heathcliff and the conditions. They are really getting into the story. We are on the moors for a real feeling about what it was like."

Children in years five and six acted out the book while classmates in younger years and teachers watched. The team took pictures and video recordings of the work.

Teacher Sarah Schofield said the work was organised after the company did similar work with Oliver Twist for the school's Victorian project.

She added: "Bringing the children out here gives them a feeling for the book. Obviously, we don't get the same feeling about how the Bronts were suffering in the wintry weather.

"These children are used to the area but learning about the background of it is something new."
