Riddlesden opera singer Neil Baker next weekend performs his last local concert before heading off to study in Amsterdam.

Neil plans to spend two years on his final stint of operatic training before becoming a full-time professional singer.

He has already performed many solo concerts as well as chorus appearances across Europe.

Neil will be joined on July 23 by Irish soprano Maria Murphy and South African soprano Amanda Echalaz.

Maria recently played Lady Macbeth in an acclaimed Holland Park Opera production, while Amanda represented South Africa in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World contest.

n Upstagers revive songs from their recent Bradford Alhambra musical Guys and Dolls in a show-songs presentation in Ilkley.

The theatre company will also perform songs from Godspell, Fame, Hairspray, Aida and Mamma Mia tonight and tomorrow.

The 7.30pm show at King's Hall, entitled Summer Time Special, is in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Saxshades perform original work and transcriptions on Sunday while the Elgin Piano Trio perform Mozart, Schubert and Dvorak on Wednesday.
