Despite heavy conditions good open rugby was played between Queensbury and Worth Village A.

Village opened the scoring after a cross field move was finished off by Andy Emmott; Chris Scaife converted. Queensbury came back strongly to score two tries and one conversion.

Both teams were having good spells in attack but defences were holding out. Worth Village A managed a one pointer from a Gary Baker 35 yard drop goal.

Worth Village A had to re-organise for the second half after injuries to Paul Gilmartin and Alex Pavlovic.(?) Worth got the better in the early exchanges and were rewarded with a Birkett try after some good work involving McNulty and Benn. Scaife kicked the goal. After a charging run from Graham Sharkey a quick play saw Nicholson stopped just short of the line, where Summerscales picked up at acting half, threw a dummy to create a gap and dive over for a try. A few minutes later Summerscales went over again after an individual run started off by Jimmy Shaw. Village were not allowed to relax as the heavy ground was taking its toll and all their substitutes used. Queensbury brought on two experienced pack men and made some early yards to force the Villagers to back peddle and after two sets of six Queensbury got the try and goal they needed. Grit and determination got Worth back in Bury's 25 where Scaife kicked a penalty after an offside decision. With only five minutes to go Worth's head went as Queensbury ran in two tries with the last being a touchline conversion to pinch the game by a point as the full time whistle blew.

A good performance from Silsden Park Rangers A failed to be enough to secure victory at Emley Moor.

A shaky start allowed Emley over early on in the game. Silsden responded well having most of the possession for the remainder of the half, culminating in Mark Claydon going over the line following a skillful passing manoeuvre. Silsden continued to put on the pressure for the remainder of the first half but were unable to put on any further score.

The second half began in a similar way with Silsden having most of the ball. The constant pressure on Emley's line eventually paid off with Mark Adams finding the gap which was also converted by Mark. This put Silsden two points into the lead. Following this try Emley's fitness showed through and the game started to go in their favour with Emley drawing level shortly afterwards. A temporary slip in, what had been a solid, Silsden defence allowed the opposition through to seal the game at 16-10.

Silsden will not be disheartened from a solid performance particularly from Paul Shaw, Brian Leach and Man of the Match Simon Kinsey. The forwards applied pressure throughout the game making it a close, enjoyable contest.

This week Silsden Park Rangers first team have a tricky league game at Slaithwaite while the A team will play Elland A at home, kick off at 2pm.
