Keighley hits the tourist trail again this week with the latest brochure selling the area.

The second edition of the Bront' Experience features contributions from Lord Healey of Riddlesden, Are You Being Served? actress Mollie Sugden, who grew up in the town, and Railway Children star Jenny Agutter.

The free glossy 24-page brochure will be used to promote Keighley, Haworth and the Dales across the globe, with information about attractions, the area's history, hotels, restaurants and shops.

The booklet has been put together by Cullingworth publishers ADVentura, who are again running off 80,000 copies for the international travel trade.

Boss Robin Jackson says the first edition "created a level of interest in Bront' country which was exceptional. We received enquiries from all corners of the globe."

A high profile for the area is needed, after a disappointing 1997 when many attractions reported a drop in visitors - despite strenuous efforts to pull in tourists worldwide. This year's edition has a strong railways theme.

Adds Robin: "I make no apologies for this as it was the railways which made a significant contribution to the growth and development of this area. But it's not all railways."

The first copies of the brochure went Dutch last week, when Keighley Business Forum handed out copies at the largest tourist fair on the Continent in Utrecht.

The rest will be distributed to every major tour operator, tourist information centre and trade fair in the country.
