Former Haworth woman Jo Holland, who is renowned for taking innovative photographs, is taking part in a prestigious national touring exhibition.

Jo, pictured right, specialises in photographs made without a camera, putting everyday objects instead of negatives inside her enlarger. The two pictures from her Eyne 1995 collection were made using pieces of dissected sheep's eye. She uses filters and chemicals to alter the image then projects the result on to photographic paper.

Jo achieved success with striking colour pictures of flowers after leaving Stafford-shire University in the early 1990s. Three years ago she made six pictures using slides of sheep's eyes for an exhibition in Portsmouth, and two were bought by Paul Wilson.

The new exhibition, which is currently in Edinburgh, features dozens of pictures from Mr Wilson's extensive private collection. Parts of the exhibition will tour the country and Jo hopes her pictures will be included when it arrives at Cartwright Hall, Bradford, from March 14 to May 31.

Jo, who lives in Leeds, is currently staging a solo exhibition called 'Inflorescence' at the Dean Clough Galleries in Halifax. The images of flowers, with blurred edges on a stark white background, have been praised by one reviewer for emphasising texture.
