Guiseley's new manager Bobby Davison spent his first day in charge with a trip to a Wharfedale hospital after his last game as player-coach saw him take an early knock.

He was substituted just five minutes into Monday night's visit to Hyde United after receiving a kick in the eye. The hospital visit was merely a precaution and he will be fit enough to take his first training session tomorrow.

Outgoing manager Steve Richards said he left on the best of terms with the club, he added: "I have been considering it for quite a while."

Former Bradford City midfielder Greg Abbott, who was assistant to Richards, has also quit.

Eccleshill United last night moved up to fifth in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a 2-1 home win over current champions Denaby United.

Bradford Park Avenue are in action at Horsfall Stadium tonight when Droylsden visit for a Unifilla Cup quarter-final replay.

The sides drew 1-1 at the Mancunian's home last Tuesday when Avenue's Clive Freeman equalised with a direct free kick in the 89th minute. Skipper Phil Sharpe is ruled out with a calf injury so Lee Connor comes back into contention.
