Saracens Rugby Union Club are bidding to stage the Super League roadshow clash between London Broncos and the Bulls in July.

Former Bulls marketing guru Peter Deakin, who now holds a similar post with the Watford-based union giants, is keen to test the water with a view to bidding for a Super League franchise for the start of the 1999 season.

Deakin said: "We would certainly be interested and I think Vicarage Road would be a superb venue. The Bulls clash with London is a really attractive proposition and I feel sure we would attract a large crowd. If we were to stage a match that is the one we would want."

But Bulls chairman Chris Caisley was more cautious saying: "The whole idea was to take the roadshow games to development areas and Watford does not fall into that category. There are other options to consider and in consultation with London we want to make the right decision."

Other venues under consideration include Dublin, Gateshead and Glasgow where the Bulls major sponsors, Compaq, have a large base.

Meanwhile tickets for the fifth round tie at Castleford will be available to season ticket holders tomorrow between 9.30am and 7.00pm. Fans should produce voucher B.

They will then be on general sale at Odsal on Saturday between 9.30am and kick-off at 2.30pm. Telephone bookings can be made from Monday. Tickets are priced £11 and £7 in the stand and £8 and £4 on the terracing. The Bulls have received an allocation of 5,000 ground tickets and 600 for the stand. Capacity is around 11,700.

Cash sales for ground tickets will be made from the old office in the clubhouse to reduce waiting time.
