CRICKET starts throughout the Keighley district this weekend, but the Bradford Central League has put their start date back a week.

After days of freak weather, which started the week with snow, clubs have been struggling to get their grounds in tip top condition for the start of pla and the Bradford Central League decided to abandon their plannned start of the season.

"The fixtures which were planned for this weekend will now by played later in the season, but we have yet to fix a date.

"The big problem is the ground staff have been unable to get wickets ready in time," said a league spokesman.

In the Bradford League Keighley travel to Brighouse for the opening match of their 150th anniversary season.
