YOUNG netball stars from Bronte House School are celebrating their success in a regional netball competition.

The Bronte House team took the championship honours in the HMC North East Regional Competition, scoring 31 goals over a total of six matches. In all some ten schools took part.

Their success was made all the more sweeter as, in last year's competition, they were runners-up to St Olave's School, York.

However, this year they beat St Olave's in the semi-final 5-0 and went on to take the championship by defeating Dame Allan's School, Newcastle, by 2-1.

Goals were scored by 10-year-old Helen Wittrick of Adel, and 11-year-old Sophie Bell of Baildon.

Netballers from the senior school at Woodhouse Grove School have also swept the board in this season's league matches.

The Under-12's, Under-13's and Under-14's were all winners in the Leeds League, thus becoming the overall champions.

Their success is in addition to the triumph of the Under-14's squad, who won the Leeds Tournament earlier in the season.
