DOUGIE LAMPKIN suffered his first British trials defeat in over 12 months when he was beaten by Graham Jarvis in South Wales.

Jarvis was on top form, beating Lampkin on the first lap of the 12-section course. Although they matched each other point for point on the second lap the damage had already been done. Steve Colley was third and Bingley rider, Martin Crosswaite, in fourth place.

Skipton Builder Nathan Wrigglesworth won Saturday's Bradford Motor Club trial at Howden Wood, Silsden.

This weekend Lampkin is at Hawkstone Park, Shropshire, for round two of the World Trials Championship aiming to follow up his opening round win in Spain three weeks ago.

l Keighley garage owner Bobby Fryers dominated the road modified saloon car class at the Spring National Hillclimb meeting at Harewood.

Fryers took top honours in his 2-litre Renault Clio Williams, covering the course in 57.87 seconds.
