Keighley soldier Stephen Claydon has just returned from manoeuvres in Poland.
Stephen, a Lance Corporal with the 1st Battalion Duke of Wellington's Regiment, has been at a former Cold War base. The Drawsko-Pomorskie Training Area was used to train Polish, Soviet and other Eastern European soldiers for a possible push west.
Stephen, 25, who is married to Sarah, has been taking part in military training manoeuvres involving dawn raids and deception techniques.
Stephen, a former pupil of Keighley's Oakbank School, joined the army in 1989 after working briefly as a joiner. "It is fascinating to come to a place like Poland," he says. "I enjoy travelling and since joining the army have been to Canada, the USA, Norway, Denmark, Kenya and Central America."
If you have a friend or relative serving in the forces, contact the news desk here at the Keighley News on 606611. We would love to hear about what they are doing.
