Full-time students at Keighley College could save more than £600 each in tuition fees in the next year.

The college has cut its 1998-99 tuition fees for full-time courses (450 hours or more per year) to a maximum of £50. And students qualifying for vocational tax relief (VTR) could be paying as little as £38.50. Students do not have to be tax-payers to qualify for VTR.

The move comes as part of the college's efforts to encourage lifelong learning by opening up courses to people who might have been put off by the cost.

For many students the saving could be well over £600, and could mean they are paying only ten per cent of the course costs.

The college is holding an Information Day on Wednesday, April 22, from 3-7.30pm, giving people the chance to find out what it has to offer in the way of starting or progressing a career, or providing an enjoyable leisure study.

Full-time students under 19 at August 31 qualify for full tuition fee remission. Benefits recipients still qualify for free tuition.
