ILKLEY Rugby Club's junior section goes 'bleep' for the Millenium Scanner Appeal on Saturday, April 25, in a 50/50 sponsored event.

They are joining forces with the Bradford Millenium Scanner Appeal, the Telegraph and Argus and (whisper it!) the Bradford Bulls to grasp the Community Bleep Test Challenge.

They hope to raise lots of money for the scanner appeal and for the junior club's funds in a 50/50 sponsored bleep test.

All the youngsters have to do is walk/jog/run 20 metre shuttles to a pre-recorded cassette with timed 'bleeps'.

The first 20 metre shuttle can be crawled in nine seconds but it does get a lot tougher as you go up the levels and anyone reaching level 13 or more will be super fit.

As well as raising money for the charity and the club's junior sectionthey will be finding a male and female champion for each of four age groups.

They will then go on to semi-finals at a Bradford Bulls Roadshow and if successful on to the Grand Final in front of 15,000 people at Odsal at a Bull's home match.

The event will be incorporated within the junior section's end of season barbecue.

The bleep test challenge and family barbecue will take place at Stacks Field from 12.30pm on April 25.

It is anticipated that over 100 children will take part and it is rumoured that a special 'Coaches' Bleep Challenge is planned.
