WORTH VILLAGE won the Blackpool Sevens on Sunday with probably the youngest team in the tournament.

On the way to the final they beat Rose Bridge from Wigan, who had just beaten Shaw Rhinos with player-coach Yestin Harris, who only the previous day had been Leeds Rhino's heroe against Sheffield Eagles, but this time just failed to swing the match his team's way.

Village came out of the blocks raring for victory with James 'the Claw' Shaw scoring after 15 seconds to put the Keighley side ontheir way.

With brothers John and Wayne McComb showing all their class and temperament to give the young guns the confidence to play open rugby.

Bernard Shaw led the way in the forwards and was well supported by Daz Lynam and Tom McAndrew.

In their secondgame they beat National Conference side Mold Green from Huddersfield 28-12 with Holly Bukitt scoringthe killer try to put Village into the final against last year's winners Folly Lane with Wayne McCombe scoring three tries and John McCombe two tries to give Village a 32-18 victory.

The Village squad was: John McComb, Wayne McComb, Daz Lynam, Martin Copperwaith, Anthony McNulty, Darren McNu,ty, TomMcAndrew, Jimmy Shaw, Bernard Sutton and Lee Burkitt.
