THE future of Wharfedale General Hospital will be thrashed out at a public meeting at Otley's Wesley Hall on Monday.

People at the meeting will hear separate plans to change medical services at the Otley hospital and also to build a new hospital - either at the present site in Newall Carr Road, somewhere else in Otley or at High Royds Hospital in Menston.

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has just had its business plan for a new £11.5 million hospital approved by the North and Yorkshire Health Executive.

And now, trust managers have begun a consultation with groups, individuals and organisations. It is looking for comments from people as to where the hospital should be built. They are in Otley to either refurbish the existing buildings, build new at the Newall Carr Site or build on land behind Garnett's mill off Pool Road.

And in Menston, there are two options - either to use some of the existing High Royds Hospital buildings or to build new on three acres on the site.

Monday's meeting at Wesley Hall in Boroughgate is due to start at 7pm. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
