HUGH SUGDEN made it four stumpings in two games on Saturday thanks to the ripping spin bowling of Mark Akrigg who took 5-70, restricting Alwoodley to 193.

Andrew Pullen also produced a match-winning performance with just 62 runs off his 21-over spell. Andrew Waggett picked up two more fielding points at Alwoodley struggled.

Wagget and Walker got Silsden off to a tremendous start before Waggett was run out on 25 with the score on 62. Bruce Walker was in free-scoring mood, crashing some magnificent drives to the boundary before being caught on 31.

John Akrigg scored 68 off 57 balls including two sixes and 11 fours. Hugh Sugden and Andy Pullen were also on form with 21 and 13 respectively, but it was Andrew Knowles who finished the match in style with three fours to give Silsden another six points.

Their unbeaten run continued on Bank Holiday Monday when they picked up a 'winning draw' at Otley. After being put into bat the Cobbydalers struggled to 34-4 before the infamous Sugden brothers took the score over the 100 mark.

After Hugh Sugden was dismissed for 23, Andrew Knowles and Tim Sugden opened the flood gates, smashing the Otley attack to all corners of the field. Knowles finished unbeaten on 33 while Tim Sugden notched up his best score of the season with a superb 76.

Silsden's bowlers dominated after the tea interval with J K Roberts, Andy Pullen and Mark Akrigg all on form.

Silsden 2nds suffered a double defeat over the Bank Holiday weekend, going down to Hall Park by 52 runs on Saturday, and losing to Otley by three wickets on Monday.

Ian Sagar top scored with 33 against Hall Park and Dave Wall led the way on Monday with 32.

Alwoodley beat Steeton 2nds by five wickets on Saturday when a score of 152-9 was not enough on a good wicket. Neil Wilson (34) was top scorer with J Hatchard taking 7-54 for Alwoodley who knocked off the runs in 36.2 overs, J Healy scoring 71.

They followed up with four points from a winning draw against Skipton 2nds after piling on the runs.

Steeton rattled up 222-7 with Andrew Benson 76 and David Robinson (69) putting on 131 for the first wicket. Gary Boulton struck a quick 36 and Mukhajee took 5-83for the visitors.

Skipton put up a real fight and finished on 190-8 with Graham Hill taking 5-54.

Hall Park held on with nine wickets down after struggling against the Steeton 1st XI attack. Steeton set a target of 170-9 and Hall Park were 155-9 when the overs ran out.

The Summerhill side also just missed out on victory in their derby match with Skipton.

The home side scored 214-7 and Steeton chased the total in determined fashion with Matthew Pinniger top scoring with 55, but they fell just 18 short in the run-chase, on 196-8.
