People in Cullingworth are being encouraged to pick up their paint brush to brighten up the village for local children. Action for Cullingworth's Environment (ACE) is organising the painting of the village's first school, and it is asking for volunteers to help out.

The priority for the action group is to tidy up the outside appearance of the school by painting window frames. After that has been completed the group intends to start painting mur-als and cleaning up the outside of the building.

The action group says it is dedicated to brightening up the environment for all the children's organisations in the village, including the beavers, rainbows and brownies. Organisers are also asking people to donate unwanted tins of gloss paint - white or col-oured - which can be used to paint the school.

If anyone requires paint to be collected from their house, they should ring Helen Mayho on 274607, before June 17. Work on the school will start at 3.30pm on Friday, June 19, and volunteers are asked to bring a paint brush.

More information about the group can be obtained by contacting Jill Torr on 275663.
