Non-League: Bradford Park Avenue have called on the experience of former Scunthorpe manager Bill Green to give them a boost after a slow start to the season.

Green, who lead the Irons into the Third Division play-offs in 1992 and made 493 League appearances with five league clubs, has been named as Trevor Storton's new assistant at Horsfall following the resignation of Bobby Barr due to work commitments.

The new management team take their bow tomorrow as Avenue join Thackley and Liversedge in the preliminary round of the FA Cup, all against Northern League opposition.

Avenue, who have a home tie against County Durham side Easington Colliery, are facing injury problems.

Shaun Hutchinson (hamstring), Tony Brown (calf), Paul Green, Ian Briggs (both with a bruised foot) and skipper Wayne Benn (hamstring) are all doubtful but named while Paul Hand is unavailable.

Thackley also have home advantage, Newcastle-based Hebburn visit Dennyfield. Joint player manager Greg Abbott returns to the squad after missing Monday's win with a groin injury but Dave Elvidge is unavailable, Jim Taylor comes into the squad as cover.

Liversedge face a long journey up the M1 for their first ever visit to Stockton's Teesdale Park. Centre back Mick Carter is rated as only 50/50 after pulling a hamstring in Monday's victory and Guy Parkin is included in the squad for the first time this term as Paul Murphy joins the reserves to get a full game after three games on the bench.

Away from the glamour of the world's oldest knockout trophy Guiseley will be hoping to improve their UniBond League Premier Division position (13th), but will be hard pressed to do so with fourth placed Winsford United visiting Nethermoor.

Defender Colin Hogarth is back in the squad after training yesterday for the first time and Simon Parkes returns to the pool from an ankle ligament injury. Matt Flanaghan and David Cook are also added.

Eccleshill United, who suffered their only defeat of the season on Monday, will have influential skipper Andy Wilkinson back in the fold for their home fixture against Pickering Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Wilkinson missed the last two matches with a gashed shin, but manager Ray Price will have to make one more addition as midfielder Kevin Megson is on his honeymoon.

Farsley Celtic have Wayne Noteman back in contention, following his recent injury lay off, for the visit of Lincoln United in the UniBond Division One.
