Hundreds of young people from all over Britain will bop until they drop at a Bradford church tomorrow night.

The event, The Rock, will - for one night only - turn the Abundant Life Church, in Wapping Road, Bradford, into a nightclub for youngsters.

Those that take up the invitation to "experience the power of this life-changing event" will be able to enjoy a disco, live music and cyber-caf.

Waitresses on roller-blades will serve desserts and soft drinks.

Organiser Steve Gambill said: "It's one of the few places hundreds of people can come and enjoy themselves in a drug-free, alcohol-free zone.

"We will rock the house. There will be three drummers doing live drumming and a DJ called Tribal Expression who has been doing big Christian events for many years.

"It will be pretty loud.

"We black out all the windows and there's a light show and graphics projected onto the walls. It's an absolute scream and we just want to invite lots of young people."

The Rock was first staged in April 1997. This time it has been publicised in national Christian magazines and the church expects an even larger turnout. It follows the church's ethos that it has a national role following its recently launched weekly satellite television programme.

Mr Gambill said the event surprised many people: "It was an outstanding success last time and it brings lots of people to church.

"They think it's going to be really religious, but it's not."

The entertainment starts at 8pm and finishes at 1am and is open to those aged 15 and above. Tickets cost £5 on the door and £4 in advance by ringing Bradford 307233.
