Keighley had mixed success, collecting seven points from a possible 12 over the double-header weekend.

On Saturday they entertained bottom club Great Horton and maximum points, but not without a few frights along the way.

Having bowled out the visitors for 136 Keighley were confident of a comfortable win, buton a difficult wicket they struggled against an accurate attack which belied Horton's league position.

One again Ali showed his class with a fine bowling performances, taking five for 35, and was ably supported by exciting young prospect Dale Towler who captured three for 40.

Ali batted superbly in difficult conditions with a fine 55 and sinsible batting by McFarlane (22) and Wood (17no) saw the Lakwholmers through by three wickets.

On sunday they visited Hartshead Moor and came away with a single point. After putting the home side in captain Steve Mitchell must have regretted his decision as overseas star Azam Khan smashed the Keighley attack for 126. Khan had broken the league's individual record with 214 not out against Ben Rhydding the previous day and continued his assault against the Keighley attack which certainly missed opening bowler Rob McFarlane.

Moor's total of 254-6 looked daunting nd Keighley gambled on opening with Ali hoping for a fast start, but the gamble did not pay off, and Ali was caught behind without scoring.

The Lawkholmers then settled for the point as steady batting by Lee Gordon, Steve Reape and skipper Steve Mitchell, with a patient 51 not out, saw out the remainder of the innings.

This Saturday sees Keighley in action for their final home game of the season against promotion hopefuls Bankfoot.

Keighley 2nds went down to an agonising defeat -- beaten by just three runs by Great Horton.

Keighley put the home team in to bat and soon had them in trouble, taking three wickets in less than five overs. All the bowlers worked well to keep the runs down and limited Great Horton to 152 runs. Gulsheraz Ahmed took four wickets for just 40 runs.

The reply started well and after both openers fell Gulsheraz and Craig Ratcliffe put on 49 for the third wicket. Gulsheraz reached his half century but the team fell three runs short.

A depleted 10-man side finished a disappointing weekend with a second defeat, at the hands of Hartshead Moor who were restricted to 186-7, but Keighley wre all out for 94.
