Arriving at a new club can be a daunting experience for any player.

There are team-mates to meet, a new manager to please and a new set of supporters to impress.

This is a scenario which has faced all seven of Paul Jewell's signings but for left back Lee Todd it has been a hugely frustrating start to his Bradford City career.

On the opening day of the season, Todd's otherwise impressive debut was marred when he was adjudged to have fouled Stockport's Brett Angel with three minutes to go to hand County their match-winning penalty.

And then in the next game he suffered a groin injury which has kept him on the sidelines ever since and Todd admitted this week that it has been a frustrating time.

"Against Lincoln, I felt the groin go while running their lad down the line. I blocked his attempted cross early on and the ball went for a corner but I knew straight away what had happened.

"But I tried to play on when I should really have come off. It is frustrating but that is how football goes sometimes.

"I have had a couple of injections in it so hopefully that has cured it. I have been doing strength work in training and I intend pushing it on next week.

"I won't be in contention for the first team on Tuesday at Ipswich but if everything goes according to plan, I hope to play for the reserves at York.

"Hopefully if there is no reaction I can keep training and be ready for trying to earn a place in the first team soon after that. I suppose at least it can only get better."

Todd returned north during the summer just one year after joining Southampton from Stockport County due to his family failing to settle in Hampshire.

The 26-year-old is currently searching for a house in the Bradford area and admits that it is becoming more urgent with every passing week. "I am still in the hotel which is certainly not ideal. I still have houses in Stockport and Southampton but I want to sell the one in the south.

"I do need to move very quickly though because my four-year-old daughter is set to start school this time. My wife will move to Stockport and put her in school there while we sort something out. I will continue to live here in the hotel while we do that.

"If it was just me here on my own then I wouldn't be bothered and would probably just rent a house. But with the two kids I have to look after them so we need to buy. We also have another child on the way in February so we need a house."

Todd may been sidelined with injury during his first few weeks with City but says his team-mates have made him feel very welcome.

"The lads are a good laugh. I have been handed a few nicknames already but they can't be revealed to a family newspaper.

"There is a lot of banter. I had played against most of the lads before but I didn't really know them. The only ones I knew were Nigel Pepper and Flash (Gordon Watson), who was receiving treatment last season at Southampton.

"I think I had played against everyone bar Stuart McCall. But I certainly know a lot about him now. He never shuts up, just like Flash. Everyone says Peter Beagrie has quietened down a lot this season and he certainly isn't the loudest."

lCity are urging supporters to buy tickets early for the match at Sunderland on Saturday, October 3 in an effort to obtain a bigger allocation.

City have been allocated 1,100 so far, but managing director Shaun Harvey believes there is a chance of another 2,000 if they can prove there is sufficient demand.

The tickets went on sale yesterday to season ticket holders and will remain on sale to them until Friday, September 18 after which they will be on general sale.

The tickets for the Metro FM stand are priced £17 for adults and £15 concessions.
