Motor Sport: The debut visit of the national championship Superbike aces to Croft heads a packed weekend of Yorkshire action.

The slick-tyred, 170 bhp screamers hit the Darlington track for the first time on Saturday and Sunday, for their end-of-season spectacular.

Reve Red Bull Ducati, Team Kawasaki and other teams will compete in two 15-lap races in what will be an open capacity class and that, combined with slick tyres, could be the key to dropping somewhere near four seconds off the existing lap record.

Admission booked in advance is £7 (ticket office phone 01325-721815) or £10 on the day. Sunday's charges are £10 advance or £14 on the gate, while children go in for £2 each day. Parking is free.

Dougie Lampkin clinched his fourth ACU Forest Heath Fasteners British Motor Cycle Trials Championship in style after a clear winning ride on the moors above Rochdale.

Silsden's double world champion said: "I had a good ride, the new Beta went perfectly after I spent a week at the factory checking all the settings.

"I was annoyed to lose two marks on the tenth section on the last lap, otherwise I would have got round all the sections for one penalty on the final lap."

Lampkin, 22, gave his new 1999 specification factory trials machine its British debut at the Whitworth venue, beating former champion Steve Colley and Canterbury's Graham Jarvis.

It was his fifth win in the six-round series, Jarvis having managed to beat him once.

Bingley's Martin Crosswaite was fourth and his points net him the No 4 plate next year, while its previous holder Dan Clark slides down the rankings to seventh after finishing ninth at Whitworth.

Another Haworth rider Wayne Braybrook beat many of the teenage stars to finish sixth and takes No 5 in the new ratings.

In the Expert class, Durham policeman Andy Huddleston was the winner on his Yamaha - he had won the class a month ago. Silsden's James Lampkin had a terrible first lap, but found form to finish fourth, and that gave him runner-up spot in the Support Expert ranks. Ilkley decorator Graham Tales was tenth and that put him fifth overall.
