Leeds United record signing Lee Sharpe has been transfer-listed and told that he does not figure in the club's future plans.

Manager David O'Leary is inviting offers for a player who cost United a joint record £4.5 million in the summer of 1996.

Howard Wilkinson brought the wideman from Manchester United in the hope he could add some much-needed flair to his struggling side.

However, within a couple of months Wilkinson had been sacked and Sharpe never appeared to be a favourite of George Graham's.

O'Leary said: "Lee doesn't figure in my plans so we are inviting offers for him."

Sharpe spent all last season out with knee trouble and has started only three games this season.

He began his career with Torquay, where he made his debut at 16, before being signed by Manchester United for £185,000.

After recovering from injury, Sharpe was hoping to make a big impact this season, but has made only fleeting appearances.

O'Leary brought him back for the home leg of the UEFA Cup tie with Roma, but tellingly withdrew him after an ineffective 60 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Leeds boss has been boosted by the news that defender Jonathon Woodgate will be available for tomorrow's clash at Liverpool.

The 18-year-old was due to play for England Under 18s in a tournament in Israel but UEFA have ordered it be postponed because of the worsening political situation in the Gulf.

Tomorrow's clash at Anfield will be Liverpool's first game since Gerard Houllier took sole charge of the club.
