A HEARTBROKEN Skipton lad is appealing for the public's help after losing 14-months of A-level work in a telephone box.

Teenager Daniel Lambert, of Carleton, left his invaluable portfolio of craft, design and technology work in the Keighley Road callbox on Monday afternoon after phoning his dad for a lift.

His father, David, said his 17-year-old was devastated at the loss, as CDT was his favourite subject and the A3 folder was full of his innovative ideas - many of which cannot be recreated.

His teachers at Skipton's Ermysted's Grammar School say the situation could be resolved to some extent, with hard work and some backtracking.

Mr Lambert said: "He had phoned me from the phone box, which is on the left as you enter Keighley Road bus station, but left his folder in the box while he waited for me to come a pick him up.

"And about an hour and a half later he realised he had forgotten his work. Since he lost it he has been absolutely heartbroken. CDT is his best subject.

"He would often tell me how he would wake up in the middle of the night with ideas, which he would jot down. All of those have been lost now."

Now Mr Lambert, of Orchard Hills Cottages, is keen to hear from anyone who may have picked up the folder, or seen it in the box at around 4pm on Monday.

Ironically, Mr Lambert says an office worker at Aireville School got a call from her daughter from the same spot at around the same time, and the girl heard a woman in the box, asking people on the street if they had lost anything.
