Bowls

Arthur Land is producing his impressive Crown Green Competitors Handbook for the 14th year and once again it is packed with details of big money competitions. One reader claims to have won over 50 events since the book was launched, but Arthur himself is still chasing success.

Last summer he managed to play 20 competitions in a week sending over 1,000 bowls, but didn't hit the jackpot. "The theory is that the more bowls you player the better you become, I'm still working on that," he said.

The 1999 Handbook is £15 including updates during the season, and contains competition dates, start times, organisers details and a daily planner listing all heats each day. For details contact: Arthur land, Freepost, 23 Marsh Lane, Frodsham, Warrington, WA6-7BR. Tel: 01928-731767.
