In a game played under ideal conditions the match was spoiled by handling errors made by both teams. The score at half-time was 10-8 to Hunslet with tries from Tom Haughey and Dave Hooley keeping Bingley in touch.

The second half saw Bingley start with promise but fall again into the careless mode with some sloppy handling, this was when the home side took charge. The second half was much of the same with Underbank rampaging down the slope. Captain James Grice kept rallying his players in attack and defence.
