TERRIBLE weather has caused over 70 matches to be postponed so far this season, and the worst of the winter is still to come.

Half the scheduled Premier Division league cup matches were called off last weekend, but Oxenhope managed to go ahead after transferring their match against Colne CC to Marley.

James Bailey scored twice before the break with further goals from Steven Potts, Paul Sewell and David Collier. Colne had little to offer as Oxenhope ran in two more goals from David Collier and Danny Mitchell.

Cross Hills were in buoyant mood on their visit to Addingham, but were brought down to earth by an early goal. Damien Whiteoak scored a great solo effort to make it all square at half time.

The introduction of substitute Paul Schofield paid dividends and two goals from Andrew Little put Hills on top. Adam Smith got the fourth and a Whiteoak penalty made it 5-1. Addingham scored a second, but it was too little too late as Little completed his hat-trick. Champions Embsay must be quaking in their boots as they meet Cross Hills on Saturday.

Keighley Reserves entertained Skipton LMS Reserves in the Division Two cup with the Keighley side dominating throughout. Numerous chances were missed before young Josh McNee scored the opener and added a second before the break.

LMS briefly came into the game in the second half, but it was Lee Isherwood who found the net to secure a comfortable 3-0 victory for Keighley.

Lothersdale Athletic entertained last year's beaten finalists, Grassington United Reserves in the Division Three cup, and made them fight all the way for their 2-0 victory.

Only two league matches survived in the Premier division with Silsden returning to the top of the table on goal difference after a 6-2 home victory over Keighley FC.

Keighley had the better of the opening stages and went ahead through an Edward Whinnery free kick, but Silsden soon pegged them back and Andrew Holden equalised from the penalty spot. Keighley were not at their best and were caught in possession more than once, leading to a second goal from Jimmy Hedges. The second half saw a much fitter side well on top, Matthew Bland headed home a free kick and Andy Holden made it four, with another penalty.

Keighley had a brief flurry in which Steven Cook rattled home a second goal, but hopes of a revival were shortlived when Martin Bland scored number five and Andrew Holden completed his hat-trick. The victory should set silsden up for their West Riding Cup game tomorrow (Saturday).

Haworth visited Cononley and found a very heavy pitch, but both sides contrived to play good football. Haworth showed more ability going forward, but failed to defend at set pieces and conceded two goals. They kept pressing and were rewarded with a goal from the boot of a Cononley defender and were back on level terms at half time.

Matt Gilmartin was brought down in the box and the penalty was smashed home.

The second half started badly for Haworth as Cononley took the lead and battled to deny the Worth Valley side a share of the points.
