A 90-year-old cyclist, killed after his bike was involved in a collision with a white Fiat Punto car near the entrance to Cleckheaton's bus station, has been named by police as Handel Oates, of Pyenot Avenue, Cleckheaton.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident on Dewsbury Road near the junction with Eldon Place yesterday at 11.45am.
A police spokesman said Mr Oates was travelling along Dewsbury Road towards Cleckheaton when the accident happened.
Anyone who saw the accident or saw the cyclist in Cleckheaton or Heckmondwike earlier in the day is asked to contact Heckmondwike road traffic office on 01924 421047.
Mr Oates was carrying two bottles of paraffin at the time and police are keen to find out where these were bought.
They would also like to trace the driver of a BMW car who stopped outside the motorcycle shop at the side of the bus station to offer use of his mobile phone.
