City chairman Geoffrey Richmond is urging fans to buy tickets before Saturday's game or arrive early to prevent congestion at the turnstiles.
Some fans missed the first ten minutes of the last home game against Crystal Palace due to thousands of supporters arriving close to kick-off and the City chief is keen to avoid a repeat.
He said: "Evening games are often a problem because people tend to arrive from work later than on a Saturday.
"Ticket sales are not too encouraging at the moment and we seem to be on course for a crowd similar to the Crewe game.
"If people do intend coming to the game, I would urge them to buy a ticket beforehand or arrive early on the day.
"The last thing this club wants is fans missing any of the games between now and the end of the season."
Tickets are available at normal matchday prices of £13 for the Ciba and Sunwin Stands (concessions £7) and the Diamond Deal Kop, priced £9 (concessions £5).
